Overview

Q: What is Verified by Visa?
A: Verified by Visa is a unique service that uses personal passwords to help protect Visa Debit card numbers against unauthorized use. Once you activate your card, no one else can use your Visa Debit card number at any participating online stores – without your personal password. Verified by Visa is available for select Visa Debit cards from participating financial institutions.

Q: I am not an Internet expert. How easy is Verified by Visa to use?
A: Verified by Visa is quick and easy to use. When you submit an order at a participating online store your personalized Verified by Visa window will appear. First, look for your personal message. Then, simply enter your password, click submit, and you're done.

Q: I share the same card number with other family members. How does Verified by Visa work for all of us?
A: Everyone on your Visa Debit account will need to activate their card and create their own personal Verified by Visa password so that they can shop at participating online stores.

Q: Can I use Verified by Visa from any computer?
A: One of the great advantages of Verified by Visa is that it can work with just about any device with an Internet connection. There's no special software to install. Once you activate your card, you simply shop like normal – and your Visa Debit card number is automatically recognized at checkout. Be sure that Cookies and JavaScript are enabled and that pop-up killers are disabled on your computer. Activating Your Card

Q: How do I activate my card?
A: To activate your card click on this link www.visa.com/verified and follow the instructions. You will be required to supply your card number, 3 digit code on the back of your card, and your pin number for verification purposes. For security purposes, do not activate your card from a public computer (library, college, school, and other public locations).

Q: What are the Verified by Visa password requirements (number of characters, numbers, upper case, etc.)?
A: Password requirements are determined by each Visa Debit card issuer. Ohio Heritage Bank will require a 5-12 digit password.

Q: Can I activate more than one card?
A: Yes, you may activate all of your Visa Debit cards.

Shopping with Verified By Visa

Q: How do I shop with Verified by Visa?
A: When you pay with your Visa Debit card, the Verified by Visa service is automatically extended to you at participating online stores. After you enter your Visa Debit card number and submit your order, your personalized Verified by Visa window will appear. First, look for your Personal Message. Then, enter your password and click submit. Your identity will be verified and the purchase process will proceed.


Q: Where can I shop using Verified by Visa?
A: For a list of participating online stores visit Shop with Verified by Visa. The list of participating stores is growing, so bookmark that page or set it as one of your favorites, and check back often.

Q: How will online stores know that my card is activated?
A: Whenever you use your active card to pay at participating online stores, your Visa Debit card number will automatically be recognized and the Verified by Visa password window will appear. Your password will be required to complete your purchases.

Q: What if I forget my password?
A: If you forget your password, click "Forgot your password" on the Verified by Visa password window and follow the instructions provided by your Visa Debit card issuer. If you still can't remember your password log on to www.verifiedbyvisa.com and follow the instructions provided.

Q: What is the password hint?
A: If you have one, a password hint can help you to remember your password if you forget or lose it.

Q: What is a Personal Message?
A: Your Personal Message appears in your password screen when you make purchases. When the Verified by Visa window appears during the purchase process you should always check to see that your Personal Message appears correctly. This confirms that it's an authentic Verified by Visa window.

Q: What should I do if I suspect that someone has my password or has used it to make a fraudulent purchase?
A: If you ever suspect that a fraudulent purchase has been made with your Visa account, contact us immediately at 740-622-8311 or call 1-800-876-9119 after hours. Always be sure to keep your password safe.
